About us

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a not-for-profit organisation providing world class aeromedical, search and rescue services to those in need 24/7. The Service has more than 40 years of proud history, and operates from three bases in NSW (Tamworth, Belmont, Lismore) in addition to a Head Office and deep level maintenance facility based in Broadmeadow NSW.

A key component of our fundraising is our Helicopter Housie program which was established in 1989. Every week over 1,600 people play Cash Housie (Bingo) at one of 35 sessions in Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Manning Valley, Mid-North Coast, Central Coast and New England Northwest.

About the position

We are currently seeing applications for the role of Casual Housie Assistant in the Coffs Harbour and Grafton region.

You will be required to work every Friday (9.15am – 1.15pm) and every Saturday (hours to be confirmed)

Availability on Wednesdays (9.15am – 1.45pm) would be preferrable to fill in as required.

As a casual bingo staff member you will be an integral part of our fundraising team, responsible for ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for our players.

Reporting to the Housie Manager, this role is responsible for conducting engaging and efficient Housie sessions in a variety of Registered Clubs across the region.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Ensure that all bingo games are conducted in accordance with gaming regulations and compliant across all areas.
  • Greet players with a warm and welcoming attitude.
  • Host our housie sessions, this includes set-up, selling tickets, paying winners, and finalising the session including recording session details and reconciliation of session worksheets.
  • Call back winning tickets, announce next game and monitor the progress of the games.
  • Accurately verify winning bingo tickets and distribute prizes to the winners.
  • Maintain a neat and organised work area along with required records for audit requirement
  • Selling Housie books and electronic playing devices.
  • Conducting Housie games in a safe and professional manner.

Essential Criteria

  • A bright and confident personality with exceptional customer service skills and a positive attitude
  • Reliable and honest with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent cash handling skills, good with numbers and with technology
  • Self motivated and takes initiative
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, including being agile and quick on your feet.
  • Ability to work a flexible roster, day and night sessions as required
  • Current drivers licence
  • Own a mobile phone and laptop (optional)

This role requires liaison with Registered Clubs staff and Housie Patrons and therefore it is essential that the successful candidate is a people person with the ability to communicate with a diversity of people. Confidence using a microphone is important.
